A Day in Lembongan

by - September 14, 2016

It’s my fifth time to Bali, but this time we did something different by taking a day trip out to Nusa Lembongan.
Before I start on how beautiful and tranquil the island transcended to be, we were once again tricked by the locals to purchase an expensive boat ride where they conveniently shortchanged us. Like airlines, you get to choose to travel on a smaller boat or a luxurious boat. We opted for the latter. I highly recommend going straight to people decked in uniforms instead of home clothes, because they are the decent ones operating the boats.

We foolishly booked a trip with a random someone, got on our boat and when we were back in Bali…got ourselves stranded at the harbour because they didn’t provide us transport back to our accommodation which was initially promised to us. The harbour was quite a walking distance out to the main road. With an impending flight, we panicked and had to sprint eventually as the walk out never seemed to end.

Thank God, we found someone who noticed our desperation, honked at us and drove us back to our accommodation so that we could catch our plane in time. He wasn’t a certified taxi driver, just a man who was planning to have some family time but dropped them off at the harbour to send us because of the extra money. We can hardly comprehend such situations in Singapore. Out of gratitude, KH’s dad blessed him with double of what we struck the deal for.

Nowww, back to the island.

With 5 hours, KH's sister - Yvonne, brought us to Sandy Bay Beach Club for lunch with the most amazing horizon of blues. It was strategically located right beside the waters and even had a pool where I found myself squealing in excitement as depicted on my snapchat moments. I ordered Nasi Goreng but it wasnt on par with any of the places we had in Bali did left me a little disappointed, but they had an ice cream parlour which made up for it. I ordered raspberry sorbet!

After lunch, I rode on a Yvonne's scooter for some sightseeing and was clutching on to my dear life. The roads in Lembongan were bumpy and it felt like the scooter was going at 110km/h. Thankfully the ride ended quickly as we reached the next spot! We walked to Devils Tears, where the waves crashed relentlessly against the rocks and if they were large enough, foam would collect up too. We walked along the rocks and I was as always, in awe of how vibrant the skies and the sea was.

Thereafter, we adjourned to Dream Beach to have tea, where we ordered a plate of sushi and plopped ourselves onto their cushion beds at their alfresco area. We got to enjoy the splendid view of the beach and I for sure, love to people watch!I think there's so much more to explore, but we didn't have sufficient time so we're probably gonna return for diving sessions when KH comes along the next time round.

We're heading back to Bali again at the end of this month and it'd be entirely different because we booked a huge villa for 13 people and it's gonna be an entirely different experience. Keep tabs on my Instagram stories @unveiledlust and snapchat if you're interested!
